Absolutely. Fathom is built privacy-first. All your data — journals, check-ins, goals, and preferences — is stored locally on your device by default. We don't have access to your content. Fathom uses both on-device AI and optional cloud AI (Google Firebase Vertex AI) for features like journal summarization, text rewriting, task breakdowns, and personalized insights. On-device AI runs entirely on your phone. Cloud AI features are opt-in and can be toggled in Settings → AI Features.
No. We do not use your content to train AI models. When Cloud AI is enabled, text is sent to Google Vertex AI for processing only. We do not include your name or identifiers in those requests.
Location access is optional and only needed if you use the workplace geofencing feature. This allows Fathom to automatically detect when you arrive at or leave a saved workplace for hands-free check-ins. "Always" permission is required for reliable background geofencing. You can disable this at any time in your device's Settings.
No. Fathom is a personal productivity and wellness support tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified healthcare professional or your local emergency services.
Yes. Fathom supports iPad with an optimized layout that uses a sidebar navigation for a better experience on larger screens.
